Students Understanding Complex Concepts Equals Student Success = SUCCESS Grant Years: 2009-2013 Major Components: Content: o Building of Conceptual Understanding through student eyes o Focus: Basic foundational concepts of Mathematics taught in grades 3rd - 8th grade levels. o Summer Institutes with CSU Sacramento Math Project Practicum: o Year 1 Focus : Practicum = teachers instructional practice o Year 2 Focus: Effective Instructional Strategies with a purpose = student learning o Year 3 Focus: Tying grade level concepts and instructional strategies together for powerful student learning & achievement. A new goal is to bring other site teams in to the process in order to sustain this practice at each school after the grant funding has ended. Professional Learning days: o Year 1 Focus : Practicum = teachers instructional practice o Year 2 Focus: Effective Instructional Strategies with a purpose = student learning o Year 3 Focus: Tying grade level concepts and instructional strategies together for powerful student learning & achievement.
