English Language Development/English Language Arts
The Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (“the Standards”) are the culmination of an extended, broad-based effort to fulfill the charge issued by the states to create the next generation of K-12 standards in order to help ensure that all students are college and career ready in literacy no later than the end of high school.
PCOE is a dynamic support system for our District efforts providing a range of professional learning opportunities at all levels: County-wide, District, site, and classroom supports.

Each engagement is designed to build capacity and to build from current initiatives. PCOE works with each stakeholder to develop a professional learning plan, not just deliver a workshop. Please contact PCOE to help you enrich your current capacity to meet the varying needs of your teachers.

Students with dual language experiences require instructional supports that are both targeted and specific to their language levels and needs. PCOE works with each stakeholder to design professional learning that is mindful of the specific students in your context and the readiness of teachers to meet their needs.
